Her Nashville, my blessing
I’m quite lucky (and delighted!) to be a contributor to Her Nashville magazine. I’ve enjoyed the first three issues so much, but the October issue is one I’m particularly thrilled with because of the beautiful, very real stories of Melissa, Nancy, Princess Ivori and Rachel.
The Her Nashville folks are calling it “the naked, but not ashamed” issue, and it’s a title I would not fully appreciate unless I had published my own thoughts. I know it sounds silly (it’s just 700 words of geek talk) but writing and filing the Chic Geek column always gives me butterflies. When you publish your thoughts, whether in print or online, it’s scary.
What if I say something patently offensive? What if I change my mind and someone holds something I wrote years ago against me? What if what I’m writing doesn’t make a lick of sense? What if I disappoint someone who was looking forward to reading it?
These ladies in the Her Nashville October issue really lay it all out there in a very real, very naked, fashion. I can’t imagine sharing anything as exposing as battling breast cancer, overcoming an eating disorder or watching your mother die from a heart-wrenching illness.
I just can’t imagine it – but I’m blessed for reading it. If you don’t live in Nashville, you can view the full content online at www.hernashville.com.
