Chic Geek Links: click, read, comment!
Reader J points out that I’ve neglected to post links to my last three Chic Geek columns here on FlackRabbit. Oops! In my defense, I was sort of going through a few major life changes, which caused me to forget and stuff. And then WordPress hated me for a bit. Sorry! BUT I never missed a Her Nashville deadline in all that moving and stressing out and whatnot. If it makes you feel better — at least my editor was happy (Hi Ashley)!
So, for the non-Nashvegas readers, here’s what you’ve been missing:
MAY Online Exclusive: All Atwitter
The web-based micro-blogging site, Twitter.com, may have recently celebrated its third birthday, but its 140-character existence is just now seeping– actually, sweeping– into to the mainstream consciousness.
Lord help us; Twitter is taking over the world, singin along to the tune of six 20 million unique visitors a month and growing. If you don’t have a Twitter account yet, I encourage you to try it out. But like most communications tools, Twitter is only as effective and purposeful as the content, strategy and sincerity behind it. READ ABOUT TWITTER BASICS HERE!
JUNE Issue: Got Questions?
One of the best things about having a hobby that is both professionally and personally relevant is that no matter where I go, folks want advice on social media and technology. I mean, all kinds of folks: my granny, non-profit execs, even the guy I sold my car to. READ THE CHIC GEEK FAQ!
JULY Issue: Photo Protocol
A few weeks ago, long-time friend, foodie and chef, Jim Hagy, posed a fabulous question on my Facebook wall about Internet picture-posting etiquette. He and his team work many interesting, high-profile events, and they often take photos of their culinary creations along the way to post on their blog, website and Facebook group. That’s all well and good, but what about taking and posting photos of the people?
“Say a member of my staff or I am at an event and taking photos and there are identifiable images of guests in the photos. Are we required to secure a written release before posting them on social media sites” Hagy asked. READ THE THREE RULES OF PICTURE POSTING HERE!
Hope that helps … and sorry I’ve been neglecting to lead you to the Her Nashville goodness! It won’t happen again; promise! In the meantime, don’t forget to check out the Chic Geek blog. And please folks, leave me some luv in the comments
