Dead to me: any use of the word “fail”
I’m not sure who started this whole “___fail” craze – maybe the Twitter Fail Whale concept is to blame – but I really wish they’d end it. I cringe at every little use of the term, be it #twitterfail, #facebookfail, #obamafail, #titansfail or the new favorite, #balloonboyfail.
I hate the world “fail” and hope it dies a slow death.
It’s even worse when you see it in an email, such as, “I would have emailed you back, but I’m dealing with an Epic Outlook Fail.” (sigh)
For the love of Pete, folks — it’s not funny. It’s not clever. Yet, “fail” has its own blog. It must be stopped.
Who’s with me?
Someone please, please be with me.

Yep, I’m a bit guilty … as I fessed up to you on Twitter. It is too easy to write/say and truly does lack any real meaning. I hereby pledge to reform and right my path.

Ha! No worries, Robert. I just had to get that off of my chest; I have ALWAYS hated that phrase and I just can’t take it anymore! Sweet of you to comment on my blog, by the way. Hope your semester is going well and that your students realize how lucky they are to have you!

Aw, Margie!! I so heart the fail blog, http://failblog.org/
I don’t know where it originated, either, but I do crack up at many a fail blog submission. Some of them are presumably faked, though, but I still laugh.
I, the novice Tweeter, however, have in my piddly 164-Tweet history, totally refrained from using #fail hash tags (or any variation thereof). Go me! The last thing I’d want is to be perceived as obnoxious by the flack rabbits of the world — what a Fail that’d be! ;-P
You tell ‘em, sister.

I’m 100% with you. It is possibly the worst use of any word ever. It makes no sense grammatically. It also makes the user sound extremely unintelligent.
