I’m routinely asked what the heck Chic Geek is and what it has to do with FlackRabbit. And well, nothing, really. It’s actually a separate technology and productivity writing gig for Her Nashville magazine. It’s a true honor to be a contributor – it is also the fulfillment of a New Year’s resolution!

I link to the Chic Geek blog posts on my homepage and usually link to the online version of my monthly column as soon as it’s posted.  I don’t pull a feed of those print columns on my site, but here are the links to a couple of my favorites:

The Other Woman (November 2008)

Call me obsessive, but I cannot resist the weekly urge to check the pulse of my online self. I want to know what you see when you Google any combination of Margie, Maddux and/or Newman. It???s not that I think everyone is out there Googling me, but what if they do? What if ???they??? is my future boss or a high school friend? I want the search results for my online self to be a good representation of my real self, and it should be the same for you.

The Write is Right (December 2008)

As a child I hated them, but as an adult I???m positively addicted to handwritten notes. You so much as hug me on a bad day or surprise me with a soy latté, and you can bet you???re getting one.

I???m a little embarrassed to admit it (and friends make fun of me for it!), but the urge to send notes overtakes me so often that during the year of my wedding prep, Mom actually asked me to stop mailing them to her.

???Can???t you just keep track of whatever it is nice you think I???ve done for you, and then send me one at the end of the year???? she pleaded. No dice, lady. You???re getting some word love the good, old-fashioned, pen-and-paper way. READ MORE

It’s amazing and quite humbling to know that women actually read my print columns. I’ve received the kindest feedback from you and I hope I don’t let you guys down! Also, please shoot me a note if you think of a geeky topic you’d like to read more about – I’m always looking for something fun to write!
