Six things you should hate about pr people
Oh, boy! Looks like more folks are discovering public relations truths via Google. This recent Flackrabbit search query needs no introduction…
…but it does need an answer. Here, let me:
1. I hate it when PR people spam
2. I hate it when PR people over-promise and under-deliver
3. I hate it when PR people behave in ways that tarnish the reputation of our industry
4. I hate it when PR people call themselves “social media gurus”
5. I hate it when PR people aren’t creative
6. I hate it when PR people are lazy
There! Hope that helps. Flacks, have I left anything out?

Number two is big for me. When I was doing PR, I would often turn down potential new clients. Often potential clients have unrealistic expectations, like National coverage of an event that just isn’t newsworthy. Of course someone is always going to take their money. And still not get the coverage.
True. I can’t imagine taking that gig though. You’re only setting yourself up for failure and a very unhappy client.
