I blog because it’s important to me that I share my passion for/expertise in reputation management in a public way. On the record. Out there for the world to critique and hold me accountable to.

Readers of this blog are chiefly nagged about four things:

  1. You must take every opportunity to build and maintain your personal brand;
  2. You are smart and talented.  You must be able to communicate that and advocate on your own behalf with gusto and confidence (a skill that Clay Shirky believes is more often utilized by men than women);
  3. You should find way to learn more about social media and publish your expertise outside of work; and
  4. There is no privacy on the Internet–your future employers are Googling you.

Sure, there are other things I love and could blog about: Nashville Predators Hockey, Auburn football, John Mayer, Dave and semicolons. I rarely write about those here; that’s actually good because John Gruber says “obsession times voice” is what keeps folks coming back. Clearly, I’m rather smitten with the above topics.

So, that’s why I do it. My fellow bloggers, why do you put thoughts to pixels?
